COVID-19
COVID-19 is a disease caused by a virus called SARS-CoV-2. Most people with COVID-19 have mild symptoms, but some people can become severely ill. Older adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness.
Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is one of the best ways to protect yourself and everyone around you against this illness.
COVID-19 Symptoms
People with COVID-19 report a wide range of symptoms, ranging from mild to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure, and symptoms can include:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea

Healthy Practice Guidelines
At Watertown Family Practice, we’re closely monitoring and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. The situation continues to change, but we currently recommend several health practices that can reduce your chances of getting COVID-19.
- If you have respiratory symptoms like cough, shortness of breath, fever and do not need medical attention, please stay at home to self-isolate for 14 days.
- If you are experiencing difficulty breathing, worsening in symptoms, or you have significant conditions like COPD, asthma, heart disease, or diabetes that increase your risk of serious illness, please call our office at 920-261-8500 to be triaged by a provider.
- If your symptoms are severe enough to need Emergency Department care, please call them before coming or call 911 so they can prepare for your arrival.
- When you leave home, try to maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from other people.
