Mononucleosis

Mononucleosis, also called mono, is a virus that can cause symptoms similar to the flu. It’s rarely serious, but symptoms can linger for weeks or months. Mono is commonly transmitted through sharing a drinking glass, food or utensils with someone who has the virus.

Testing for mono involves taking a blood sample and testing it for antibodies that indicate mono is present.
